My Approach

My approach is flexible. It is guided by each individual's unique needs, concerns, preferred way of working towards growth, and hoped for outcomes. Our work together will be a continuous collaboration, with your experiences guiding the process. 

In my practice, I integrate the following approaches

Coherence Therapy

Non-pathologizing approach to understanding and honouring the emotional truth of our "symptoms". When we become conscious and aware of how symptoms may have been adaptive or protective to us in the past, we can begin to heal them in the present. This approach considers your mind, body, spirit, emotions and sensations as providing important and powerful tools for transformational change. 

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Non-pathologizing approach that encourages the use of mindfulness based practices to change the relationship you have with your thoughts, beliefs and perceptions. Connecting with and defining values serves to re-orient behaviours towards what is valued and meaningful.

Dialectical and Behavioural Therapy Skills

Mindfulness and cognitive based approach to improve emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal skills.

LGBTQ2S+ Affirming

I welcome, embrace and celebrate folks of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. Sometimes we don't feel these aspects of our identity need direct attention in therapy, but we just want to work with someone who strives to stay informed and has lived experience. Sometimes our experiences as queer folks call us to uncover, address and work towards healing internalized oppression and stigma, or to grieve and give voice to our anger or confusion. Let's work towards living the most authentic and congruent life possible. Kink and Poly friendly. 

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is a form of therapy with evidence base to heal trauma and PTSD. EMDR considers your entire history of traumatic experiences, and how each one informs the other. Effective for both single incident traumas, and complex/multiple traumas, as a person's entire trauma history is taken into consideration. There is no need for disclosure of trauma narratives in this approach.
